Lil' Wayne Covers Complex Magazine

Guess who's on the cover of the next issue of Complex Magazine? Ok... you don't have to guess. Lil' Weezy graces another cover, and we're sure it's going to be a great read as well. However, upon seeing this cover for the first time, we immediately felt a sense of deja vu...

Maybe because thirteen years ago (yes, 1994) VIBE Magazine shot Tupac for their cover, and the two pictures are almost identical. We hope this was done on purpose, because if it wasn't, we're so disappinted with Complex. We'll still buy a copy though... lol.

"The Hater Bunch" Is Back!

Man, are we PSYCHED! Troi Torain and step-brother Timothy Joseph, better known as Star & Buc Wild (respectively) from the notorious "Star & Buc Wild Morning Show", are coming back to New York City radio! And they're bringing the original crew too - White Trash Helene, Chris The Queer, and show producer Miguel Candelaria. According to a press release from their PR firm, the dynamic duo will announce their return at a press conference in Midtown this Wednesday. Their new home, 87.7 FM, is currently a Russian station, but will switch it's format to Top 40 in January. The Star & Buc Wild Morning Show first gained its popularity on NYC's Hot 97 FM station back in 2000. The show then transitioned over to Clear Channel's Power 105 in 2004, where Star was ultimately terminated from in 2006 after making controversial comments about rival DJ Envy's four year old daughter. In any case, our guess is that Star will monopolize all of Hip-Hop/R&B morning radio upon his return. So maybe we can finally bid that has-been Miss Jones and Dinosaur Ed Lover a farewell! Yup, I said it... BRING ON THE HATE!

Rocsi's 24th Birthday Bash @ The Grand

Monday night, we had the pleasure of celebrating the 24th birthday of BET 106 & Park's host Rocsi. The event was held at the Grand Hotel, which we'd never even knew existed until that night. There were Phantoms and Maybachs galore parked outside, no doubt belonging to the gang of New York Giants football players in attendance. Inside, it was a beautiful set up. We were greeted upon entry with complimentary drinks, courtesy of Hypnotiq (shout out to the Hypnotiq girls, who did their best not to spill the drinks on themselves, but failed miserably...lol). There was a pretty good looking crowd there overall, and big shout out to the birthday girl - who looked stunning in her dress! She had a red carpet set up for pictures and we were able to snap a few...

It's A Girl For Timbaland!

Surprised? So are we! It's been reported that chart topping music producer Timbaland welcomed a healthy baby girl, "Reign," into the world today. Page Six reported that Timbaland and the child's mother who works at his label, Mosley Music Group, are not a couple. Though Timbaland promises to be "involved in the child's upbringing." Another source added, "He's very excited about the baby and has been very supportive to the mother."

On the contrary, other sources confirm that he and the woman, 33 year old Monique Idlett, are engaged to be married. Allegedly, the couple had been together for two years before Tim popped the question at their recent baby shower. "They're both really happy together," said a source close to Tim. "They've known each other for years." Whatever the circumstance, we're happy if they're happy. Congratulations and best of luck!

Oops! He Did It Again...

Jay-Z really "will not lose!" Despite reports that Hov's American Gangster concept album was expected to flop, it looks like he still made it to #1 on the Billboard charts. He topped off his first week selling 425,681 copies. Even though this number was pretty low considering his track record, it was enough to make this Jay's tenth number one album, which ties him for second place with Elvis Presley for the most number one albums in history (both artists trail The Beatles, who had 19). Say what you want, but your boy still breaks records on his worst day!

Gabby Speaks Her Mind In New Essence Interview

You better go girls! Actresses Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan, & Nia Long, grace the December 2007 cover of ESSENCE magazine - and they look spectacular! In the issue, they discuss everything from their acting careers and being in-between jobs to the disdain they share with gossip sites, particularly those run by black women. (Uh-oh... do we still count?) It looks like our girl Gabby had the most to say. See below...

"Just last week somebody gave me a baby. This isn’t Perez Hilton or the White gossip people, these are women of color, specifically Black women who, for whatever reason, don’t like the company I keep.

'And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits, the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking, no nothing. And in one week’s time, there were like five different dudes, a baby—I’m a homewrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t care about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in front of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t care about us in that way. So when you hear crap about us, it is coming from our own community, which hurts.

'There is this idea that there is integrity in journalism; if it’s written it has to be true. But that’s not the case. When blogs or any of the magazines get it wrong, there’s no accountability. In the next breath, they’ll complain on the blogs that we don’t have enough Black stars. Well, you rip us to shreds every two seconds from our nose to the weave to the clothes to the shoes to the ashy ankles."

LOL! Though you must admit, she does have a point. Black women tend to critique each other the hardest. Perhaps if we supported one another more often, we'd all get a little further in life. Actually, that message is applicable to the Black community as a whole... Kudos Gabby!

Here's some behind the scenes photos of the girls...

Time Is Still Money For T.I.

Despite T.I.'s current house arrest status, he's somehow managed to remain upbeat and productive. So much in fact, that he's already completed six new studio tracks inside his Jonesboro mansion. The songs will be featured on his new album, entitled Paper Trail, due to release in September 2008. The album title derived from the rapper writing down all his new lyrics, something he hadn't done since the I'm serious debut back in 2001. His rep says, "He wanted to take more time to really put something down [this time]," according to Entertainment Weekly. Quite frankly, this may be the exact change he needs. Coming from avid fans of T.I.'s music, we were a little disappointed with his latest release, T.I. vs. T.I.P. We like old-school T.I., who rhymed with a New York swagger but still dragged his words just enough to miss the last syllable. Whereas now, I can barely catch a word at all with him rapping so fast! Let's just say, we're looking forward to the new material. As always, we'll keep you posted if anything leaks.

In relative news, T.I.'s on again-off again girlfriend, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle is allegedly back in the studio as well. Word is, there's some new songs on her myspace page, one in particular called "Lately," in which T.I. is featured. They ought to make over Tupac's Bonnie & Clyde track... Bey & Jay have nothing on them! LOL.

Kanye West Releases Statement

Kanye West recently released an official statement regarding his mom, who passed away due to complications from cosmetic surgery procedures this past Saturday. Again, our hearts go out to him and his family during these trying times.

"Kanye West, his family and friends would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country since the death of his mother, Dr. Donda West.

After working in higher education for 31 years, Dr. Donda West and Kanye West co-founded the Kanye West Foundation with the mission of helping to combat the severe dropout problem in high schools across the country. The first and signature initiative of the Kanye West Foundation is Loop Dreams. Designed to capitalize on students’ existing interest in hip-hop, Loop Dreams challenges students to learn more about what’s behind hip-hop culture in order to help them develop skills, express themselves creatively and be empowered.

Instead of flowers, Kanye West and his family request that donations be made in Dr. West’s name to Kanye West Foundation/Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute at 8560 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069."

We Want Prenupt! Michael Jordan's Divorce Most Expensive Ever

Remember that Jennifer Lopez song "Love Don't Cost A Thing"? Well apparently it does. In Michael Jordan's case, about $150 million! That's around how much his wife, Juanita Jordan, is expected to get after all the paperwork is done on their divorce. The $150 million is said to be half of Michael Jordan's assets. If Juanita wins the settlement, the Jordan divorce will claim the number one spot on Forbes.com's list of "The 10 Most Expensive Celebrity Divorces."

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember her ever taking one shot in any basketball game, nor can I recall her in any Nike commercials. Jordan signed his NBA contract before their marriage in 1989. So why is she entitled to half? Don't get me wrong, as his wife of seventeen years and mother of his three children she definitely deserves something. But half? One could argue that she helped Jordan to amass his fortune, but what kind of argument would that be? Would that be saying that the great Michael Jordan would have only been mediocre if he hadn't married Juanita? I don't think anyone in the world can believe that.

So with that said, I'll sign off this article with the word of the week:

pre-nup-tial a-gree-ment (n): an agreement made between a couple before marriage relating to the arrangement of financial matters and division of property in the event of their divorce. Also referred to as a "prenupt".

Pre-nupt, fellas. PRE-NUPT!!!

Jadakiss On Roc-A-Fella?!?!?!?

So we get a text from my man (waddup, Meezy?) today - who was at the Jay-Z concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom the other night - telling us that Hov brought Jadakiss out on stage with him. Our first thoughts upon hearing this information was whether we could trust our source, who is a habitual weed smoker (LOL). But after some quick research on the web, we were able to dig up some info on the subject. MTV.com reports:

If Jay-Z gets his wish, Jadakiss will be a part of the Roc very soon. Hov has been in negotiations with Ruff Ryders to get the black Babe Ruth on his label through Def Jam. It's almost a done deal.

"Well, I've been actually trying to get Jadakiss to come to Roc-A-Fella/ Ruff Ryders for a minute," he said. "It's not done. It's in the final stages, though. I spoke to [co-CEO] Dee [Dean] and all of them about doing something really special with a Roc-A-Fella/ Ruff Ryders collaboration."

Now it all seems to make sense. The Jadakiss cameo in the Roc Boys video; the impromptu concert appearance; and not to mention the new music hittin' the mixtape circuit. Wow. Jadakiss down with the ROC. Who'd have thunk it?

And whilst we're at it, here goes some music...

Where Was "Killa Cam?!?"

When Tingy makes a promise, we deliver. This past Wednesday, we told you Cam'ron would personally be handing out free copies of his new mix-tape, "Public Enemy #1" on 125th Street, from 10pm to 12midnight. We stated that we'd be front and center to witness the much anticipated chaos. Now, WE were there (along with a crowd of hopeful fans) - but where was Cam?!? Sure, the infamous pink Range was parked outside of the Apollo theater, with the Diplomat goonies handing out CD's, but still no Cam. We were utterly disappointed. Though we didn't leave completely unhappy...

That's right, our very own Ty Jones was sure to grab us a copy! And if we must say so, the joint is fire! The double disc CD has that real street, gutter feel to it. The New Maybach 62 S - "Landaulet Study"

As if the original Mercedes "Maybach" wasn't sexy enough, the forthcoming "Landaulet Study" is guaranteed to stimulate every nerve in your body upon first glance! Originally a concept car, Maybach is expected to give a sneak peek of the new 62 S beauty at the Dubai auto show in just a few weeks. The term, "Landaulet" stems from the word "Landau", which refers to a "horse-drawn carriage with a folding top". I don't know if you TRULY got that comparison... Maybach specifically chose that term because it is designed with a "chauffeur-operated soft top that retracts to give its passengers, but not their driver, a convertible experience." That's some real pimp 'ish if I've ever seen it! And of course, the production will be extremely limited. It's rumored they're only producing 20 vehicles a year, and there's already at least 20 orders! If you're interested (lol), one of these will cost you somewhere around $500K. I'm curious to see which one of our favorite artists/producers is going to be the first to cop it. I'm sure Jay can't wait!

The dinner is to include only those whose names he submitted for approval and would begin at 9:00am until 6:30pm. He also requests that cleaners are allowed on the premises to maintain the yard, pool and home itself. As per the conditions of the house arrest, the judge ordered that T.I. can only have three approved guests at a time. Though maybe he'll bend the rules a little in light of the holiday season... I Am Legend Movie Trailer

Did anyone else notice the trailer for this new Will Smith movie entitled "I Am Legend" during the previews before they saw American Gangster last weekend? In case you didn't, here goes two of them. In the movie, Will plays Robert Neville, a scientist who, although brilliant, could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague - The Infected - lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time (written by Warner Bros. Pictures). This looks like it's definitely gonna be a blockbuster!
