Just In Time For Spring...

If you haven't already caught a sneak peak of the Louis Vuitton Spring 2008 handbag collection, you're in for a real treat! Marc Jacobs, fashion powerhouse and artistic director for Louis Vuitton, teamed up with controversial artist and photographer, Richard Prince, for the season's new look. And if I must say so myself, it is brilliant! The upcoming spring line features bright pastels and rich color schemes, along with vibrant, fun prints. Some might argue the new look strays a little too far from the classic Louis monograms we all know and love. Though I have a feeling that as long as Jacobs is calling the shots, he'll continue to push the boundaries beyond the traditional standards. So where exactly did the inspiration come from? Jacobs' affinity with "SpongeBob SquarePants!" In an interview with Style Magazine, he declares, "And I'm a fan of SpongeBob SquarePants—and for all I know, so is Rei Kawakubo, because that's where our color came from!" Tokyo designer Rei Kawakubo is the founder of Comme des Garçons, a high end fashion line known for breaking the mold back in the early eighties with outlandish, asymmetrical styles. She is still known today for her edgy yet exceptional designs and colors. Jacobs' comment was quite possibly a stab against critics who accuse him of appropriating Rei's fashion image. In any case, it appears he's done something right because the bags are GORGEOUS!

Though I'm still scratching my head on this one...
