When Your Stylist Attacks Vol. 5

Hey D. Woods, THIS is what you wear to an awards show? We know you probably can't afford a stylist right now being that you got kicked out of Danity Kane and all, but that doesn't mean you have to show up at a red carpet event (The Dirty Awards) like this. You should've called us first! What a tragedy.

John Forte Gets A Get Out of Jail Free Card

Remember Fugees' affiliate John Forte? Well, the Grammy Award-winning rapper and music producer originally sentenced to 14 years in prison for smuggling cocaine is one of sixteen people receiving pardons or reduced sentences from President Bush.

John Edward Forte of North Brunswick, N.J., a graduate of the elite Phillips Exeter Academy prep school who later became a producer for the rap group The Fugees and released two albums on his own, was caught back in 2000 at Newark International Airport with two briefcases filled with $1.4 million worth of liquid cocaine, according to court documents.

Forte, 33, a first-time offender, was convicted of possessing the 31 pounds of cocaine with intent to distribute and was sentenced to a minimum of 14 years at Fort Dix, N.J. (Forte's Web site)

With the commutation, Forte will be released Dec. 22, after serving just over seven years. He still faces five years of supervised probation.

Introducing the 2010 Porsche Panamera

Yes, folks. You are looking at a four-door Porsche! It's finally here, and it's on fire! These are the first official photos of the 2010 Porsche Panamera. Rumor has it that Porsche actually wanted to come out with a four-door car years ago and almost went bankrupt at the time because of overwhelming production costs. Now after successfully launching their Cayenne a couple of years ago, the timing seems so much better.

The four-door grand touring sports car will probably come with a spacious interior and a traditional Porsche driving behavior delivered by either a 3.6L V6 300 horsepower engine, the S-model 4.8L V8 with 400 horsepower, or by the turbo V8 which unleashes 500 horses. Anyways, whoever is first on the block with this baby is sure to be the talk of the town!

Fresh Check: Kanye West's Pastelle Varsity Jacket

Nowadays, it seems like every rapper has a clothing line. And honestly, we haven't been this excited since Pharrell started Billionaire Boys Club (BBC/Ice Cream). The few pieces we've seen from Kanye West's Pastelle line have looked quite promising - including this varsity jacket he wore to this past Sunday's American Music Awards.

With 808’s & Heartbreak set to release, Kanye West gave us a sneak peek of what to expect from his upcoming clothing label, followed by his performance of “Heartless”. Pastelle is still under wraps, but the blue/red two-tone varsity jacket worn by Kanye on Sunday is definitely a sign of good things to come.

The Smithsonian Wants Obama

If the Smithsonian Institute has its way, a giant fine art version of Shepard Fairey’s iconic portrait of the now-president elect Barack Obama will enter the collection of its National Portrait Gallery as the first official fine art rendering of the future president. The only hitch? Money. The $75,000 price tag for the piece, which was created by Fairey as the centerpiece of his “Manifest Hope” Obama art show that took place in Denver during this year’s DNC, must be raised through donations, though word on the street is that the museum is close to meeting this figure. As if having a street artist with a criminal record branding a presidential campaign weren’t enough, this move can definitely be filed under the headers of “Hope,” and “Progress.”

Varsity Jacket by Junya Watanabe

There's nothing cooler than a fresh varsity jacket - well, except for this latest varsity/blazer creation by the good folks over at Junya Watanabe. The attention to detail on this jacket is SICK! From the ribbed shawl collar and snap buttons to the extra-heavy felted wool, it's every ounce a varsity while still remaining distinctly a blazer. If you want to cop, you better get over to Bloomingdale's (NYC) ASAP. And bring $1500 USD with you!

Jim Jones Speaks To Complex Magazine

Check out what Harlem rapper Jim Jones had to say to Complex magazine about Jay-Z, Kanye West & Cam’ron:

Meanwhile, your relationship with Cam’ron is at a standstill. It seems like that souring has had the most effect on you.

It’s definitely hard, because that’s my nigga, that’s my brother. We rolled together for a very long time, and there are things I remember we said that we would never do. And now that we’ve got so much success, we’re doing all the things we watched people do and said that wouldn’t be us. It’s the ego; it has to be. This is a question I’ve asked myself over and over again. That’s the only way I see it. Amongst everything else, there was a couple things said on my part, but I can do that if I want to. Above all, I kept it fair; I could really expose shit, but that’s not what I’m here for. Once your ego becomes bigger than money, you can’t get anywhere. It’s a sad thing—we’ve built so much. Everywhere around the world, people know the Diplomats as a strong entity. And it’s at a halt due to the fact we’ve been going back and forth through this minute bullshit.

In the documentary, there’s mention that Jay-Z stole the beat for “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” from you and Cam, that Kanye agreed to give the beat to you guys. What’s the story behind that?

Kanye came to our studio session at Sony, and he was playing some beats back when we were all signed to Rocafella. Cam was about to come out with Come Home With Me, so we told Kanye we wanted to buy the song “H to the Izzo.” It was an understanding we had between us and Kanye because we were all under the same label. So then, I’ll never forget it, we’re at Cam’s house and this hip-hop award show comes on [BET Awards, 2001], and Cam and I are watching it on his couch, and we’re like, “Next year we’re gonna be up there.” So they announce that Jay-Z is about to perform his new single off The Blueprint, and the dude comes out with the “H to the Izzo” beat. Cam and I look at each other like, Oh, we’re going to kill Kanye. Oh my God, when we catch this nigga,we’re going to do something terrible to him. And that’s how Cam ended up getting the “Down and Out” beat. Kanye gave it to him free of charge as payback.

You’ve said that there’s no more Rocafella, but Kanye has had great success, and he still claims the Roc.

I don’t know if he’s actually with Jay-Z from the looks of things. From what I’ve been seeing from since we were signed until now, I think Kanye actually hates Jay-Z. [Dame Dash interrupts:] No, he actually does. He hated Jay-Z ever since he wouldn’t give him a fucking Rocawear chain in Chicago! I’m telling you.

We wonder if Jim will ever stop hating on Hov? And Dame Dash should be ashamed of himself.

808's & Heartbreak Album Art by Kaws

Kanye West has had some of the most interesting album covers. For his latest effort, 808's & Heartbreak, he's recruited another reknowned artist, Kaws, to produce his album art. For those who are not familiar, Kaws was one of the original designers for A Bathing Ape and now has his own clothing line, Original Fake, which is ultra limited. We're not sure if this will top Takashi Murakami's artwork on Graduation, but it's still fire!

Maybe we will cop the album now, at least for the art.

Tingy's World Exclusive: Behind the Scenes With June

You know we stay with the exclusives over here in Tingy's World! A few days ago, we caught up with one of the hottest unsigned rappers in the game right now, the Bronx's own June. We chopped it up for a sec at the photoshoot for his upcoming single (and our new anthem) I Rock Sneakers. Here go some pics...

Hard to believe this guy is not on a major label yet. He has the talent and swag to battle the best of them for the top spot. We're guessing it's only a matter of time before his music hits the mainstream market and he's selling out arenas all over the world. And when he does, we better be getting some free tickets! (We see you playboy!)

Here's a vid -

Look out for the I Rock Sneakers video coming soon. You know we'll have the behind the scenes for that one too!

You can hit up June @ myspace.com/itzjunebx to hear some of his music or drop him a message.

And if you're ever in need of a photographer, be sure to hit up CFK Photography @ myspace.com or cfkphotography.com.

And tell 'em Tingy sent ya!
